Started thinking about Project C

Notes:
I will be working on Project C with Alžbeta Kulichová. We've talked about what the game should be about and eventually decided to use a game idea I had a couple years ago but never got around to making. At the time, I was playing Hollow Knight a lot and wanted to make a metroidvania. I thought about how I could make it different and come up with (what I believe to be) an interesting mechanic. The player's main weapon would be a spear. He could poke enemies with the spear or he could throw it. Throwing a spear has obvious benefits - mainly range - but it also has its disadvantages. After the player throws the spear, he doesn't have it anymore. Maybe he has like a small dagger to defend himself with but it's not nearly as good as the spear. There is slight inspiration from games like Stick War (where the hoplites can throw their spear but end up with just a shortsword) or Crypt of the Necrodancer (where the player can throw a dagger or a spear but is then left defenseless). What I don't like about this same mechanic from those two games is that I never had a reason to give up my weapon. The player needs to have some incentive to throw the spear. That incentive is a different mechanic - the spear would stick into walls and the player could then use it as a platform. That could sometimes force the player to give up his great spear for a while and just use the tiny dagger. I think it's a really neat game mechanic.

The game should have some puzzle elements (the spear sticking into walls could create some interesting puzzles), some platforming and some combat. It will be a general 2D platformer. Ideally, the game would have some metroidvania elements but I recognize that making a metroidvania is not easy and that we might not have enough time for that. The game should be pretty scalable tho so we'll just make it piece by piece and see how far we get.

The way we divided the work between us is that I'll work mostly on the programming while Bety will work on level design. Secondarily, Bety will also make the art and I might just try and make a soundtrack? Things like general ideas and mechanics will be kind of a shared effort, we'll see what else we might come up with.

Idk, like 1.5?
